If you fancy a trip into Asia this summer, there is one place in particular that I would definitely recommend a visit to. Kuala Lumpur is a stunning city situated in Malaysia, and there are tonnes of amazing things to do and sites to see while there. Here are some of the top things you can do if you choose to visit Kuala Lumpur this year:
1. KL Tower
This is a huge landmark in the centre of the city and is recognised as one of the most well known buildings in Kuala Lumpur. This stunning building has a fusion of architectural influences and stands at an impressive height. You can climb up the tower and stand on the viewing deck, a jaw-dropping 276 metres high, where you will be able to see the entire cityscape completely unhindered. This is certainly a place that you must visit, as you just can’t imagine the scale of this sight until you see it for yourself.
2. Petronas Twin Towers
For a great way to travel this area, you can get yourself a house for rent in cheras. This will allow you to stay here for a while and really delve into the magnificence of the area. Think about visiting the Petronas Twin Towers (which used to be the world’s tallest building); you will able to enjoy viewing the art gallery inside, visit the Suria KLCC shopping park, and then go to the top of the building for the viewing deck. You can easily spend a whole day here and it’s perfect for a rainy day when you don’t want to be outside.
It seems like most big cities have a Chinatown of their own, and this version is one that is just as quirky and impressive as the rest. When you enter the vibrant street inner city, you will immediately be hit with the smell of Chinese food and will see plenty of Chinese trinkets, handmade items, and some unique thing for purchase. You can visit a Chinese supermarket and gather ingredients for a feast, or visit one of the many hawkers on the street who will sell you local delicacies. If you love Chinese food and culture, this is definitely a fun place to visit one afternoon.
4. Jalan Alor
If you are a food lover, this next place will be just the right one for you. Jalan Alor is a street in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, which serves street food beyond anything you have ever previously experienced. You will be able to enjoy lots of Chinese foods, such as noodles and grilled meats, and you will also be able to enjoy food from all over Malaysia. You can feed your sweet tooth with treats such as ice cream and crêpes, and will feel like you are in food heaven while walking through and smelling all of these amazing aromas.
5. Central Market
If you fancy a day of shopping and seeing some of the wonderful things made by locals this year, you can visit Pasar Seni. This is the central market of the city, where you will be able to enjoy a relaxing walk around the market as you view handmade pottery, art, jewellery, and other crafts. It can be a great place to buy a unique gift for yourself or someone back home.
6. Rebung Restaurant
For a great luxury meal in the centre of the city, you can visit Rebung Restaurant. This place is owned by a celebrity chef, called Ismail Ahmad. Here, you have the opportunity to eat while overlooking the botanical gardens, which is a stunning place to be for a spot of lunch. You can choose from a buffet of dishes, all of which areMalaysian delicacies; it’s a great way to really get to know the food of this country.
7. Zouk Club
Looking for a place where you can enjoy a night out with your friends or your partner? You can visit this club in the centre of the city and dance the night away.
Zouk is a club which will allow you to party and mingle in your finest clothes, and get some lovely cocktails and other drinks from the area. You can let your hair down and club for the whole night… Just make sure you bring your passport along with you as a form of ID.
8. Thean Hou Temple
We couldn’t write a list about Kuala Lumpur without mentioning a temple, so here is a wonderful and stunning place which you absolutely have to visit when you come to the city. Thean Hou is a Chinese temple on the top of a mountain, and it is a place of serenity, calm, and beauty. Chinese temples are made in an intricate fashion and the architecture is truly something to behold. You can certainly enjoy views of the landscape as you walk around the space. You will be able to spot plenty of dragons around the area as you walk around, and it is truly amazing to see the way in which they were carved.
9. Merdeka Square
For a more educational and historical excursion during your stay in Kuala Lumpur, you can come to visit the Merdeka Square. This will allow you to learn about the history of Malaysia and how it gained its independence as a country. You can also join a free tour around the area, where you will be taken to some of the other famous historical sites within the city. It is a great place to come with kids, to let them learn about another culture and to truly come to appreciate it.
10. Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra
Amongst everything else inside of the Petronas Towers, you can also come and visit the concert hall located on the lower floors. This content hall contains the philharmonic orchestra and you will be able to enjoy some truly amazing performances throughout the week. Try to wear fairly formal clothes when you visit this place, and you can enjoy a night of music and drinks with your partner.
