Tennessee, nestled in the South of America, is easily one of the best, yet underrated states you could visit. All of the other mainstream states such as New York and Florida dominate in popularity, but the state of Tennessee has so much to offer that often goes unnoticed. If people do go, they’re typically only passing through on a visit, but there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be the final destination for your next holiday. If you thought Americans in the country’s other top tourism spots were friendly, then you’re going to be blown away by southern hospitality.
If you’re going to travel, make sure you’re travelling to Tennessee for the reasons listed below:
No matter how hard you search, you aren’t going to find any beaches in Tennessee, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t one of the most relaxing places in the world. It has established one of the best vibes there could possibly be. If you’ve never heard of southern hospitality — Tennessee is where it comes from! Everyone you meet is typically lovely and welcoming, and they’ll definitely be grateful that you’re spending your money on their local tourism. If you’re looking to stay for a while, the people taking you in will be sure that your stay is one of the best you’ve ever had, especially at establishments such as the Knoxville Marriott. Even though you don’t have the typical beaches that people find relaxing, Tennessee is full of amazing bits of nature, which can be enjoyed in the form of walks, waterfalls, and beautiful mountains surrounding a wonderful state. One of the main reasons why the vibe is so magical is due to the country clubs and country music bars. The vibe in there will be electric; everyone sings and dances, good food is shared and good drinks are flowing. It’ll be one of the best nights of your life.
So, I’ve just touched lightly on the fact that good food will be in abundance, but I think a little more needs to be mentioned on this, so that you know exactly what I mean. It’s a well know fact that Americans go all out when it comes to their food, and the portion sizes are so big that they could very well feed a horse. Tennessee however, goes all out…above and beyond this. If you like barbecued food, then you’re going to be in for a treat here. You’ll find some of the most succulent ribs, mouth watering brisket, and food challenges that might actually put you into a food coma. If you do a bit of research, some smaller, independently owned food establishments are doing the most outlandish food challenges in the area. We’re talking 80oz steaks, burgers as big as your head, and milkshakes that would leave your stomach churning (and it’s no secret that chocolate milkshakes are my kryptonite).
As I’ve said, nature is one of the best things about Tennessee. I would highly recommend that you take a walk around the Great Smoky Mountains. It’s a huge trail that will give you some amazing views! Of course, there is the Graceland estate which is where the legend Elvis Presley used to live. For me, this is a huge highlight, and I often find myself singing along to my Elvis playlist as I’m doing things around the house, and have been a huge fan since I was a child. You’ve also got the sights of Nashville, if you weren’t already going to stay there!
Regardless of what it is that you choose to do while in Tennessee, there’s something for everyone. I hope that when you decide to go, you’re able to experience this incredible state and their southern hospitality in all of its glory!
